The Imo State House Of Assembly Committee On Culture, Tourism and Creative Arts has showered encomiums on the Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, for his administration’s programmes, policies and prudent allocation of resources, which have improved the lives of the people of the state, as well as repositioned Imo for improved revenue.
The commendation was made by the House Committee Chairman, Hon Chief Dr James Uba Esile, who led other Committee Members for an on the spot inspection of the ongoing renovation and reconstruction work on Imo Concorde Hotel, on Tuesday, 23rd of September 2025. This is the second visit of the Committee in seven months since the renovation work started. The first was on Tuesday 25th of February 2025.
Hon Esile, who is also the Member Representing Onuimo State Constituency, expressed total satisfaction with the level of quality work being done, and commended the Management Team of RAYCON & COMPANY for their steadfastness and commitment in showcasing professionalism and dedication to deliver a completely rebuilt and furnished "Five Star Pearls of the East" on schedule, going by the speed and quality of work being done. In his words, Hon Esile said, *"this is the second time we are coming here on inspection, and to say the least, we are impressed with the quality of work being done. We were here seven months ago, and we saw the stage of the renovation and reconstruction work then. We are here today, and have seen what you have been able to achieve within these seven months interval. This Committee is impressed. Upon completion, this renovated Imo Concorde Hotel will be a major tourist destination in the whole of southeast, as thousands of jobs will be created directly and indirectly. We have seen that building and construction materials are all here, and with the speed and quality of work being done, the renovation and reconstruction work would be completed on scheduled time. I repeat, the Imo State House Of Assembly Committee On Culture, Tourism and Creative Arts has come to assess the ongoing renovation and reconstruction of Imo Concorde Hotel, and we confirm sufficient building materials on-site and work is progressing at a fast and high-quality pace, which is an indication that the project is on track to be completed by its scheduled deadline. We therefore thank our dear capacity Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma for demonstrating that he can bring back to life, this world-class five star hotel. The developmental strides of the Governor are geared towards making life more comfortable for the people of Imo State, bringing in more revenue, as well as boosting the confidence of investors to do business in the state. We are very grateful".
The Management Team of RAYCON COMPANY conducted Members of the Committee round the ongoing renovation and reconstruction work site, led by the Construction Manager, Mr Sarkis, who assured that the reconstruction and renovation work is expected to end before the end of the year, 2025.
Also speaking, the Honourable Commissioner for Tourism, Chief Barrister Jerry Egemba, who was on ground to welcome Members of the Committee, assured that quality work is being done and that the anticipated timeline is before the end of the year 2025, when commercial operation is expected to commence, and it would be the beginning of an era of superlative and superb excellence in the hospitality industry.
In his remark, the Director General of the Imo State Bureau For Public Procurement and Pricing Intelligence, BPPPI, Sir Clifford Kelechi Okoro, explained that the Bureau is a Government Agency established by Imo State Law No. 12 of 2010 to oversee and regulate the public procurement process, ensuring value for money and transparency in the acquisition of goods and services by the state. He further explained that the Bureau monitors and provides Oversight of all public procurement activities to prevent fraud and ensure that government contracts are awarded through competitive processes, and that the Bureau always visit the ongoing renovation and reconstruction site at Imo Concorde Hotel to assess the progress of work.
