There is rising anger and disaffection in Ikembara Autonomous Community , Ikeduru Local government over Ezeship Election.
According to sources, a group allegedly organized an impromptu election of a new Eze for the community without following due process, a development that has heightened anger and disaffection in the community, dividing the community into two.
It was gathered that the present leadership of the community in connivance with some people allegedly organized a kangaroo Election for a new Eze -elect for the community following the demise of their late Eze, HRH, Eze Emmanuel Iwuchukwu without duly informing the interested parties for the election.
This has led to rejection of the purported election and the said Eze-elect by aggrieved indigenes of the community who said the organizers of the election sidelined the community's duly appointed Ezeship Screening/ Electoral committee officials.
The angry indigenes of the community alleged that the organizers were said to have used local town crier to inform the community at 11 in the night for an election the group scheduled to hold on Saturday morning 20th September 2025 when the people were asleep, giving credence to the suspicion that the organizers want to impose the Eze of their choice on the community, contrary to the wish of the majority.
The aggrieved indigenes were suspecting a secret rivalry between known apex leader of the community and some external forces, determined to cause confusion in the peaceful community.
The aggrieved indigenes said the organizers hurriedly in connivance with their external accomplices presented the said Eze-elect to the local government chairman on Sunday.
They called on the state government and relevant agencies to intervene to forestall break down of law and order by dismissing the result of the purported Ezeship Election .
