General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, has openly rebuked a woman who recently claimed on social media that Deeper Life women who tie their hair with rubber will end up in hell.
Speaking during a workers' meeting, Pastor Kumuyi addressed the viral video in which the woman, who attends the church, alleged that God revealed to her that women who use rubber—a tiny thready material commonly used to tie hair—are destined for damnation unless they switch to using string. She further claimed that Pastor Kumuyi’s late wife had to repent for using rubber before her passing.
Pastor Kumuyi firmly dismissed these assertions as unfounded, calling the woman’s claims lies and distractions from the true gospel. “I lived with my wife,” he said. “She never used anything like that. There was nothing to repent from. These are complete lies and nonsense.”
He expressed concern over how some members are focusing on minor outward matters instead of the true essence of the Christian faith—salvation, sanctification, and righteousness. “We are called to turn people to righteousness, not to dictate how to tie scarves or what materials to use on hair,” he stressed.
