A well known crusader for the welfare of Special Citizens, known as people with disabilities, Comrade, Uzoma Bright, has been appointed the Director General, New Nigeria Welfare Frontiers, (NNWF)
His letter of appointment read in parts; "the leadership of this great organisation has approved the appointment Of Uzoma Bright, State of Origin: Imo State Position: Director General (DG) , NNWF National Directorate for People With Disabilities (NNWF - NDPWD)
He will oversee the activities of the Directorate from National, Zonal, State, and down to LGA/Ward levels. This development is in line with our organisation's policy to integrate all Nigerians, irrespective of social status, into our programmes and activities.
While congratulating you on this grand opportunity, we count on your wealth of experience and capacity in performing your duties".
The letter which states that the appointment is with immediate effect, was signed by Hon. Elder (Arc) Ume Mba Ukoha, Founder and National Chairman of the NNWF
Speaking exclusively with dàilynews alert.net shortly, his appointment, Comrade Uzoma, described it as a welcome development and promised to go extra mile in discharging his duties for the good of the association and for the betterment of the society.
He expressed his desire to carry both the members and leadership of the association along with unequaled honesty and transparency, stating that he believes in leadership by example.
Director General (DG) , NNWF National Directorate for People With Disabilities (NNWF - NDPWD) passionately appealed to all members to join hands to move the association forward, stating that unity of purpose, sacrifice and undiluted support is needed to move the association forward.
Comrade Uzoma called for special attention to special citizens, stating that most of them are heavily loaded with potentials for exploits and all the need is the right platform, sincere and selfless support for a better life that will reposition them as meaningful contributors for a better society.
In a related development, the National Chairman of NNWF, Hon. Elder Ume Mba Ukoha, has rated members of the organization high for making efforts to ensure solid presence of NNWF in 36 states of the federation, including FCT, this was contained in his Special Mid Year Address on the first of June to members of the association.
He said; "is barely six months (precisely since 4th January, 2025) of our official flag-off as an organisation, through the cooperation of members of NNWF Board of Trustees, BOT, members of NNWF National Executive Council, NEC, and a host of other Officials and entire membership, NNWF can boast of being solidly present in 30 Wards, 106 LGAs, 36 States, including FCT, and 6 Zones of the Federation, with all the related WhatsApp Platforms reasonably filled, a record which many registered political Organizations cannot measure.
Our resolve to have a crop of dedicated, experienced, responsive, responsible and accountable officials/workforce is yielding results, as we now have nearly 1600 CONFIRMED NNWF OFFICIALS across the country. This is a program we embarked on with a target to have up to 180,000 Confirmed officials of the organization before the end of 2026. And with the outstanding outcomes, the target is well realizable.
In furtherance of our efforts to integrate all Nigerians into our program and give all a sense of belonging, we have recently launched and set in motion our NNWF Directorate for People With Disabilities (NNWF - DPWD), with a result-oriented Director General, DG, in charge, an organ which is presently and tactically poised to control about 34 million Nigerians and electorates with certain life challenges (also known as Special Citizens). This Directorate is also making unprecedented waves across the Zones, States (and FCT), LGAs and Wards of this country.
Many people have been asking, "What is NNWF direction and plan for 2027?" Of course, we know that 2027 is going to be a general electioneering year in Nigeria. Many activities are on at different quarters to cope with the season.
In our midst as an organisation are great politicians of various political affiliations and inclinations, many of whom contested in one way or the other in past elections and still intending to participate in future ones. Like I keep telling us, NNWF is a two-edged organisation: Socio-political and Socio-economic (Welfare). Though we remain non-partisan (but solidly engaged in and poised to be a factor and force to reckon with in politics and other areas of national development), our door remains open to our members, other persons, group of persons, political organisations and parties willing to partner with us in such regard. Similarly, by September this year 2025, our program for civic and political awareness and participation will kick off in earnest and modalities for our political alliances will be fine-tuned by the Board of Trustees, BOT, and National Executive Council, NEC, and the window will be officially open.
So many Committees are in place, looking into various areas of concern. With the recent commissioning of NNWF Directorate for Database, ICT and Innovation (NNWF - DDII), also with an ICT expert as Director General (DG), we are sure to digitalize our programs and activities to global standard.
As we look onto a brighter future and focus on our mandate towards the socio-political and socio-economic emancipation of Nigeria and Nigerians, we must continue to strengthen this Organisation and build it up as an enviable institution, a formidable foundation, and a veritable rallying point for all well-meaning Nigerians ".
