Rain of Tear Gas Gun shots on Omoyele Sowore , proteseters of #FreeNnamdiKanu

Omoyele Sowore  , human rights activist and organizer of the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest and his followers on the protest  was chased from  the protest grounds with rain of gun shots and tear gas.

This online medium reports that security operatives, comprising police and military officers took over the protest grounds on early hours of the day at about 7am, Monday morning

In a viral video, Sowore could be seen running for his life, alongside other protesters.

Sowore also recounted the incident, saying, “There were about 10 trucks that arrived at the same time we began the protest. There was no provocation on our part. As we had promised, it was an orderly and peaceful protest. It was an unprovoked attack from the police and a combined team of security operatives.

“We had just started the protest in front of the Transcorp Hotel when a huge contingent of police, army and civil defence officers showed up. We told them we were not their enemies and that the protest was not against them".

The protesters intended to march to Aso Rock Villa to demand the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra.

The Nigeria Police Force had warned the organizers against staging any protest near the Villa.

Protesters chanted, “Free Nnamdi Kanu now,” “It’s our constitutional right to protest,” and “Don’t tear gas us,” before the police shots eventually dispersed them.
