IMHA ASSEMBLY URGES IMO STATE GOVERNMENT TO LOOK INTO BAD ROADS IN ONUIMO LGA

In a bid to ensure that every local government area in Imo State benefits from the revolution in quality road infrastructure being executed by the 3-R Shared Prosperity Government, the Imo State House Of Assembly has urged Governor Hope Uzodimma to look into some bad roads in Onuimo Local Government Area, and direct the Ministry of Works, IROMA And Other Related Agencies to take Immediate action to construct and rehabilitate them.

This is the outcome of the House Plenary on Wednesday 17/09/2025.

Moving the Motion, the Member Representing Onuimo State Constituency, Hon Chief James Uba Esile, explained that the poor topographical nature of roads in Onuimo have contributed to the bad condition of roads in the local government, and as a result, has caused residents, including natives, who are predominantly farmers, traders, teachers, students, artisans, transporters, developers etc, not to have access to their farmlands, shops and schools.

Nevertheless, while appreciating the Imo State Government for intervening on some dilapidated roads in his local government, through palliative measures, the lawmaker listed the following roads as ones that need immediate attention so that his constituents will not continue to suffer. The roads are :  Ezelu junction, Eziama, Umucheke, Umuogbuanu ,ndiuche Road, Ndikpa, Okpoala- Abo, Okohai,  Umuichiribe, Owerri Okwe, Afor Umuna junction Road,

Umuomaa  umuokpare-Ikpe Road,

Umuogbuanu, Umuokparaehie , Nkwo- Umucheke Road ,

Okai, Ikpem Road.

Hon Chief James Uba Esile, who is also the House Committee Chairman On Culture, Tourism and Creative Arts cried out that if immediate attention is not given to the roads, his local government area may likely be erased from the socioeconomic, political and Infrastructural development plans in the State. He however appreciated and commended Governor Uzodimma for constructing quality roads across the state, especially, for making it possible for residents of Onuimo LGA to now have faster and easier access road to Owerri, the Imo State capital, in less than 30 minutes, unlike what was obtainable in previous administrations. For this, he described Governor Uzodimma as the "roadmaster".

To further drive home his message, the only voice from Onuimo State Constituency in the Imo State House Of Assembly said, *"The 3-R Shared Prosperity Government of His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodimma has invested so much And has done so well in the construction of Quality Roads across the State, vis-a-vis, MCC road, Relief Market road, Owerri/Orlu road, Owerri/Okigwe road, Owerri/Mbaise/Obowo road, Orlu/Mgbe road and over two hundred other roads".*

Filled with hope and confidence that the listed roads in Onuimo would receive immediate attention, Hon Esile beckoned on his Honourable Colleagues to lend their voices in support of the Motion.
