Eminent businessman and politician, Citizen Akirika Okoro has expressed joy at the safe release and return from the den of death of former lawmaker, former local government chairman and politician, Hon Chief Ngozi Ogbu, who was recently abducted by criminal elements while preparing for his mother's burial.
Citizen Akirika Okoro expressed his joy following a statement from the Imo State Police Command which confirmed the rescue of the political leader, as it has brought relief to his immediate family, friends, well wishers and to all concerned.
The Owerri Nchi-ise born philanthropist also appreciated and glorified God for his divine intervention, describing Hon Chief Ngozi Ogbu's rescue as an act of God, and a testimony of God's immense love and faithfulness for those who trust in him.
Citizen Akirika Okoro further commended the Imo State Government, Security Agencies and Ndimo whose swift response, unity of purpose and calculated pressure contributed to the rescue of the troubled and traumatized politician, who was preparing for his mother's burial.
In his words, the popular but silent philanthropist said, *"This is a clear evidence that when we put together our collective effort to achieve a common task, it would be done. All Imo citizens came out openly and condemned the callous abduction of Hon Chief Ngozi Ogbu, irrespective of political party affiliation, and called for his immediate release. This shows we are members of one Imo family. I commend the State Government and the Security Agencies for the successful rescue of Ngozi Ogbu. We have all shown, demonstrated and proved that we are our brother's keeper".*
The international business tycoon thereafter called for the rehabilitation of Hon Chief Ngozi Ogbu after his abduction experience, emphasizing the necessity of psychological, medical, social and financial support to help him cope with the trauma he passed through, and for him to regain his sense of safety and properly be reintegrated into the Imo family, while forging ahead to prepare for his mother's burial. *"For God sake, this man was abducted and kept in the thick bush and forest for over 10 days. I understand he had a kidney transplant, and was recuperating, before the unfortunate incident. He needs our collective support and assistance now. Let us not look at his political party affiliation, rather, let us look at him with the eyes of humanity".* Citizen Akirika Okoro noted.
