EFCC may prosecute Rivers Sole Administrator Ibas Over lack of Accountability, financial transparency

 


Following a Clarion call for accountability and full financial  integrity report of six months activities of  Rivers State Sole Administrator Ette Ibas, he may end up in the net of Economic and Financial Crime Conmission,EFCC on how he spent over 120 Billion Internally Generated Revenue within six months he presided over the affairs of Rivers state.

The Sole Administrator may also  face EFCC over  why he Increased fromn1.1 to 1.8 Trillion budget.

There's also a Clarion call with a compelling move for him to tender full report of  financial record of his activities during  his emergency activities inline with the principles of accountability and financial integrity report.

The Clarion call that has been gradually gathering momentum in public domain has received impetus from a prominent figure in the state, Hon. Opunabo Inko-Tariah, a former media aide to ex-Governor Nyesom Wike. 

An outspoken, inko-Tariah made the vital need for accountability and final financial integrity report of activities of Ette Ibas, as Sole Administrator of Rivers State known to relevant authorities and Institutions in his recent interview with Vanguard.

The former media aid who gave a push to the issue already in public domain called on Vice Admiral Ette Ibas, to account for every kobo he received during the six-month emergency rule.

‎He sounded it clear that the people of Rivers State deserve clarity on the management of federal allocations and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

‎According to him, the state generates over N20 billionevery month,he questioned how much he generated, how much he spent and what he left.

‎He further disclosed that Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s original budget was N1.1 trillion but disclosed Ibasreportedly that  re-presented about N1.8 trillion to the National Assembly.

‎Inko-Tariah further noted that Ibas has been spending money according to the budget approved by Rt. Hon Victor Oko Jumbo.

Displeased with what he perceived as questionable financial activities, he expressed deep concern about transparency in the state’s finances, maintaining that

Rivers people want to know how public funds were used during the emergency rule. Inko-Tariah who emphasized that accountability is essential for good governance warned that the public will closely monitor all allocations and expenditures.

‎He highlighted that managing such large funds requires strict adherence to financial rules.

Speaking further on why nothing should be swept under the carpet, ‎Inko-Tariah stated that the people of Rivers State expect full disclosure from Vice Admiral Ibas.

He made it clear that they want confirmation of all money received, including how federal allocations and local revenue, were  appropriately used.
