Reassurance of Imo State Govenor, Senator Hope Uzodimma to ensure emergence of Imo State Governor of Owerri Zone extraction in 2027 general elections inline with his promise on Imo Chatter of Equity has been applauded.
An illustrious son of Owerri Zone , Dr Chigozie Ugwo, who spoke to newsmen in Owerri commended the governor for his firm promise to the good people of Owerri Zone.
Totally pleased by his reassured commitment to power rotation and decision to hand over the realms of power to Owerri Zone, he appealed to politicians from the Zone to embrace unity, speak with one voice and shun selfish interest.
The State Director General of Imo Champions for Equity, toed the same line with the governor to appeal to politicians from Owerri Zone to put their house in order to avoid division and disagreement.
Dr Ugwo who addressed the press in the presence many Imo sons and Daughters who are Members of Imo Champions for Equity
warned against paid miscreants who may want to distort the chatter of equity or gullible politicians with the habit of taking bribe, saying; we should watch against this old politicians who are ready to collect money from Okigwe and Orlu Zones.
According to him; the problem of Owerri Zone is old politicians, who always allow personal interest to superceded public interest, due to what they will get from their friends in other Zones.
The political activist warned Governorship Aspirants from Orlu and Okigwe Zones to be careful and support Owerri Zone, for balancing of political power, Equity and justice.
Going down memory lane, he recalled that after an Orlu man, former Governor Achike Udenwa, completed his eight years, he handed over to Okigwe man, in the person of Chief Sir Ikedi Ohakim in line with the chatter of Equity but noted that Ohakim mismanaged power.
His words;" even though Ohakim did not complete eight years, his four years plus over four year of former Governor Sam Mbakwe, Okigwe Zone has done eight years.
On the side of Owerri Zone, every unbiased man knows that former Governor Emeka Ihedioha did not stay up to a year in office, before he was removed from the Supreme Court, former Governor, Evan Enwerem did not also stayed up to two years before the military took over power. No Owerri man has stayed up to four years as Imo State Govenornor.
It is morally and politically right to consider Owerri Zone, above all; equity, fairness and justice showed that Owerri Zone deserve the seat for balanced power rotation in Imo State".
The Imo State Director General of Imo Champions for Equity, passionately urged political parties to maintain equity, justice and fairness by ensuring that their governorship tickets are given to illustrious sons of Owerri Zone eyeing the governirship seat in 2027, this he said will further strenghten Govenor Uzodimma's decision to ensure emergence of Imo State Govenornor from Owerri Zone extraction.
