Owerri North, Imo State - Chief Reginald Amadi, a prominent political figure from Emekuku Owerri, has thrown his weight behind Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma's vision for equity in Imo State, emphasizing the need for Owerri zone to present the right candidates to secure the governorship seat in 2027.

Speaking at a historic gathering of leaders and stakeholders from Owerri zone, Chief Amadi commended Governor Uzodimma for championing the Imo Charter of Equity, a move aimed at ensuring rotational power sharing among the state's three zones. Chief Amadi stressed the importance of electing leaders who can drive development, saying, "If we want to get the governorship, we have to elect the correct people, we have to present the right people to Imo State." He refrained from confirming his own gubernatorial aspirations, citing the need to consult with his family, but praised Governor Uzodimma's infrastructure development efforts.

The event underscored the growing momentum behind the Imo Charter of Equity, which aims to promote political stability and inclusivity. Governor Uzodimma has assured stakeholders of his commitment to implementing the charter, which is expected to guide the state's power rotation.

Chief Amadi's remarks echoed the sentiments of many Owerri zone leaders, who are rallying behind the governor's vision for equitable governance. The zone's leaders are expected to play a crucial role in shaping the state's political landscape in the coming years.

The Imo Charter of Equity is seen as a game-changer for the state's politics, promoting fairness and balance in power sharing. As the 2027 governorship election approaches, the charter is expected to guide the selection of candidates.

Chief Amadi's participation in the event signals his influence in Owerri zone politics. His comments on the need for credible leadership have sparked interest in his potential gubernatorial bid.

The event was attended by prominent leaders, including members of the Imo Elders Council, traditional rulers, and religious leaders. They reaffirmed their support for Governor Uzodimma's vision and pledged to work together to ensure the success of the Imo Charter of Equity.
