In today's society, criticis has become synonymous with negativity, damaging and ridiculous comments. Destructive criticism is now rapidly becoming the order of the day.
For those who may not know, destructive criticism is a type of feedback that is deeply rooted in negativity, always subjective, unhelpful and aimed at hurting or belittling someone. It focuses on negative confrontation of a personality and not the problem, it dwells on attacking the person rather than addressing the issue with meaningful suggestions for improvement.
Examples of negative or destructive criticism are personal attacks,us bjective opinions hurtful language, no constructive feedback.
From all indications, destructive criticism can be counterproductive, it leads to defensiveness and hurt feelings.
However, the path of destructive criticism can be exchanged with the path of positive criticism or constructive criticism. Positive criticism is a powerful tool that can foster growth, encourage development, and improve performance.
The essence of positive criticism lies in its ability to provide specific, objective, and actionable feedback that supports individuals in achieving their goals by focusing on the issue rather than the person, positive criticism creates a safe and conducive environment for constructive dialogue and improvement.
In various spheres of life, including politics, education, and personal relationships, positive criticism can play a transformative role. It encourages accountability, promotes healthy debate, educative dialogue, and inspires innovation.
Rather than tearing others down, let's harness the power of positive criticism to build a more supportive and progressive society.
Looking at the recent critism of
Anti Kidnapping Unit of Imo State Police, Also Known As Tiger Base headed by Assistant Commissioner of Police,ACP Oladimeji
Odeyeyiwa and the manner, Chinonso Uba,, populary known as Nonso Nkwa, has always taken a swipe on the activities of Tiger Base is obvious that his actions are rooted in destructive criticism. There is nothing wrong in taking a swipe on Tiger Base, but there is everything wrong in not seeing good in everything Tiger Base does. The manner Nonso Nkwa paints Tiger Base Black as if nothing good can come out of it is absolutely wrong.
Without mincing words, something good has always come out of Tiger Base but the Truth is that the Department is not in the habit of blowing their trumpet.
A critical analyses of the views, commentaries and radio presentations of Nonse Nkwa on Tiger Base has always been filled with destructive criticism, even when they have recorded exploits in the fight against kidnapping, criminal activities and other security challenges.
During the era of Unknown Gunmen and peak of their activities, Tiger Base was one of the strong department that stood firm in defending and repelling attacks from them.
There are records of giant strides by Tiger Base Department in Imo State Police Command, obviously; they have achieved significant success in tackling insecurity, despite facing continuous destructive criticism.
Some of the notable achievements of Tiger Base include: rescue operations, in June 2025, the operatives rescued Mr. Anayo Iwuoha, abducted from his Akabo residence in Ikeduru LGA, and arrested two notorious kingpins, Uche Nwachukwu and Chinonso Ozuruigbo, It is also on record that they have successfully rescued many kidnapped victims in volatile areas of Ohaji,Egbema and Oguta.
They have also dismantled many criminal networks. Is on record that the unit busted a gang involved in kidnapping and car theft in Mbaise, recovered stolen vehicles and exposed a wider criminal network.
This Special Anti Kidnapping Unit has carried out successful raids on Terrorist Hideouts Between October 19-23, 2024, they unit raided militant camps, arresting over 20 suspects, recovered deadly weapons, explosives, and criminal paraphernalia.
It's on record that when Mrs Chinyere Igwebe, the controversial, estranged mistress of former Governor Ohakim, mischievously arrested Mrs Ogechi Henrietta Amuchienwa and her family members at Tiger Base with ulterior motive to stop her from burying her husband, Late Chief Donatus Ifeanyichukwu Amuchienwa. After ACP Ola looked at the allegations she raised and the merit of the matter, he discharged them to go and bury their dead and further gave them security against molestation and intimidation against further harrasment during the burial. This enabled them to bury their dead, Late Chief Donatus Ifeanyichukwu Amuchienwa.
I'm surprised to hear Nonso Nkwa spoke about the recent exhumation of the body of Late Chief Donatus Ifeanyichukwu Amuchienwa and desecration of the dead without talking about the role Tiger Base played to avert harrasment, molestation and intimidation of Ogechi Henrietta Amuchienwa and her family members.
I hope Nonso Nkwa knows what it means to stand up for the truth and justice in the face of heavy financial moblization for lies and injustice? ACP Ola did it with total disregard to whatsoever the oppressors of Ogechi Henrietta Amuchienwa think they can keep on the table to financially influence an unlawful arrest and detention that would have caged her from carrying the burial rites of her late Husband? ACP Ola did not fall into into that trap rather he stood on the path of Justice.
In addressing issues surrounding the exhumation and reported disappearance of the body of Late Chief Donatus Ifeanyichukwu Amuchienwa, Nonso Nkwa silenced and buried this strong point tht ACP Ola stood up for justice when and where injustice was released like a time bomb.
In his recent condemnation of the exhumation of the body of Late Chief Donatus Ifeanyichukwu Amuchienwa and the questionable court order reportedly delivered few hours after the burial, he never told the world that it was the same Tiger Base that gave the oppressed Ogechi Henrietta Amuchienwa and the Amuchienwa family security against their oppressors to go and bury their dead.
Other available and indisputable records have shown that Tiger Base has worked hard to reduced crime rates in Imo State. In one of their recent successful rescue operations, Imo State Commissioner of Police, Danjuma Aboki, noted that the unit through proactive operations has significantly reduced kidnapping, armed robbery, ritual killings, and other violent crimes in the state.
The approach of ACP Ola in Tiger Base focuses on visibility, credibility, and results, with inter-agency synergy, tactical intelligence gathering, and swift response.
Nonso Nkwa, knows that something good has always come out of Tiger Base but he choose to be silent about it, he always followed the path of condemnation and not commendable.
In this new year The year 2026 is a brand new year, in this new year, Nonso Nkwa should see need for positive adjustment and embrace constructive criticism as his new year resolution and endeavor to follow it with sincereity of heart. by doing so, we can create an environment where individuals feel encouraged to take risks, learn from mistakes, and strive for excellence. Life in all about positive adjustment for positive advancement.
