Imo State Commissioner for Tourism, Hospitality and Culture, Hon. Barr. Jerry Egemba, has expressed total satisfaction with the impactful efforts of the State Govenor, Senator Hope Uzodimma for his pace setter efforts in creating a conducive environment for hospitality industry to thrive in the state.
Speaking during the World Hospitality Day, celebrated in Owerri, the Commissioner said; the conducive, impressive and satisfactory efforts of Govenor Uzodimma is highly instrumental to the success the state has recorded in the hospitality sector.
Commissioner Egemba, said; 'the admistration of Senator Uzodimma is Hospitality friendly, and is dynamically embracing new definition and innovation in the sector aimed at nurturing tourism, economy, where innovation meets tradition, luxury meets sustainability, where hospitality is the bridge between people, culture and possibilities.
Innovative efforts of Governor Uzodimma include,; investing in smart Tourism that leverages on digital operations for efficiency and exceptional services.
Championing sustainability in operational dynamics in Tourism Sector which supports calls for designing and operating Hotels, restaurants, tourism activities, in a way that promotes modernization and reduces the negative environmental impacts.
Governor Uzodimma has given Hospitality, Tourism and Culture a facelift and is displaying commitment in changing the face of Hospitality Industry in the state'.
He assured that the ministry is ever ready to support tourism friendly environment that will help investors to always showcase a transformed, impressive and satisfactory services and the host community will flourish
World Hospitality Day, is a global initiative of the International Hospitality Council, with renown Institutions,such as International Institute of Hotel Management. (IIHM)
Delivering his speach, the Chairman of the Occasion, Chief Victor Nwokocha, said Imo remains the hospitality hub of the country and pace setters in the sector.
He explained that the negative stories of insecurity about Imo State does not reflect the reality of the conducive environment.
His words; ' I came in from Rivers State and noticed that Imo is peaceful and the industry of flourishing.
The Chairman expressed satisfaction with the efforts of the govenor towards growth and development of Hospitality industry and urged him to remain focused,.
The meeting attracted stakeholders , professionals in the hospitality sector, Commissioner for Youth Development and Talent Hunt, Hon. Mandela Ukaegbu, SA Tourism, Henry Ikechukwu Eke, Representatives of some Commissioners of sister Ministries, Departmental Heads of some Ministries.
High points of the event were performance by Ome na Imo Cultural Dance and cutting of anniversary cake, there were good will messages from stakeholders including Government officials, they all expressed satisfaction at the impressive performance of Commissioner Egemba in the ministry and stated that he deserves support.
